Guidance Essential Standards

Tomorrow I am sharing a Guidance Essential Standards presentation at the NC School Counselor's Regional Drive-in Workshop for the Capital Region of North Carolina.  I could not be more excited to be with my NC peeps and the fantastic state organization that offers us so many professional development opportunities.  I am posting my presentation here so the attendees of my workshop can easily access the information as we discuss and delve into the Guidance Essential Standards.  My blog readers can also check out the information below.  I hope it will be helpful to you!

If you are interested in getting a copy of the K-5 Guidance Essential Standards crosswalk document I have created, you can find it at my Life on the Fly store here.

  1. Angela, I have a question about your K-5 Guidance Essential Standards crosswalk (that looks fabulous)... how will the crosswalk work or fit with the new ASCA Mindset and Behaviors for Student Success: K-12 College- and Career-Readiness Standards for Every Student? This question my show my ignorance to about these new standards. Are the new standards going to replace the old ASCA standards? I'm hoping you can answer some of these questions for me. Thank you in advance.

    1. Hey Lori- That is a fantastic question! My understanding is that the new ASCA Mindsets and Behaviors are going to replace the old standards because they cover all three areas and are updated based on new research. I got a little information about them when I attended the ASCA conference over the summer. However, I am not that knowledgeable either. There is an ASCA webinar tomorrow at 2pm to educate school counselors further on the new standards. If I can't make it due to my school schedule, I am going to see if they put the transcript up or post other new info on the ASCA website. I'll make sure to share any info I glean in a future post. :)
